The Biblical God is the ONLY GOD who was or will be. Anywhere. Ever. Don’t believe anyone, no matter who they are, who tells you otherwise.
God Himself has much to say on this issue in His Word, the Bible. Let’s let Him speak for Himself, and then let’s choose to take Him at His word!
“Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel
and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts:
‘I am the first and I am the last;
besides me there is no god.
Who is like me? Let him proclaim it.
Let him declare and set it before me,
since I appointed an ancient people.
Let them declare what is to come, and what will happen.
Fear not, nor be afraid;
have I not told you from of old and declared it?
And you are my witnesses!
Is there a God besides me?
There is no Rock; I know not any.’” Isaiah 44:6-8
“For you are great and do wondrous things;
you alone are God.” Psalm 86:10
“You are the Lord, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you.” Nehemiah 9:6
“There is none like you, O Lord, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.” 1 Chronicles 17:20
“That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else.” 1 Kings 8:60
“For who is God, but the Lord?
And who is a rock, except our God?” Psalm 18:31
“Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.” Isaiah 45:22
“I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no savior.” Isaiah 43:11
“’Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,
and they shall call his name Immanuel‘
(which means, God with us).” Matthew 1:23
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:1,14
“And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” John 17:3
“Therefore, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that ‘an idol has no real existence,’ and that ‘there is no God but one.’ For although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth—as indeed there are many ‘gods’ and many ‘lords’— yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.” 1 Corinthians 8:4-6
“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all.” 1 Timothy 2:5-6
We clearly see in these, as well as many other passages of the Bible, that THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD! And there will never be another! What a delight it will be to worship God for all eternity!
The Bible tells us that if we don’t choose to worship God in this life, He will not force us to worship Him for all eternity, but rather will remove us from His presence and thus the presence of all things good. Jesus spoke more of Hell than Heaven. It’s a real place of judgement and suffering and it is where all mankind is heading, deservedly so, because we are sinners removed from this One Pure, Holy God by our sinfulness. But this One True God loves us so much, that He came in the likeness of man (not his normal state) to pay for our sins on the cross.
What an unfathomable free gift He has given all all who would accept! But we must choose to receive this undeserved mercy in this life, as the gift expires at the time of our death. Will you accept this free salvation, making Jesus Lord and Savior of your life? Making Him Lord means to serve Him fully. Making Him Savior means you know He and He alone paid for the sins you could not pay for. You can be in Heaven for all eternity, but only because of His completed work at the cross, on your behalf!
What a gracious, merciful God! And what a delight to serve, honor and glorify Him and Him alone forevermore!
“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:1-10
